As the Literacy Expert, Sary Silvhiany, M.Pd., M.A., Ph.D. takes part in Directorate General of Teacher and Education Staff, the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology

Sary Silvhiany, M.Pd., M.A., Ph.D. has served as literacy expert at the Directorate General of Teacher and Education Staff, the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. Her work includes designing and writing the Professional Standards of Literacy and Numeracy for the Indonesian Elementary Teachers and designing the bridging program and literacy training for early childhood educators and primary school teachers. Also, she attended the literacy micro-credential programs provided by the Columbia University Teachers College Reading and Writing Programs.

She also served as a trainer in the literacy preparation program attended by over 20.000 university students who would take part in “Kampus Mengajar 3”, a nation-wide program which connects campus and school through the teaching program initiative. The topic she explained in the meeting was Reading and Writing Learning Strategy in Elementary. It was successfully held with a big enthusiast from the participants, and it can be the support for those who will take part in Kampus Mengajar.

As a lecturer in English Education Universitas Sriwijaya, she also often takes part and has a bunch of experience in literacy field. She was the project chair of the Workshop on Literacies to Support the National Literacy Movement at the Marginalized Community in Sungai Rengas in 2021 and Digital Literacies Workshop for Teachers of English at the Secondary Levels in 2020 for the community service grant. Her various experiences show how her expertise in literacy field could bring her to the current path.
