This is a required course designed to develop students’ English grammar skill at intermediate level. This is the second part of a three-part English grammar course which provides the students with a sound knowledge of English structure. 

The class concentrates more on passive voice, gerund and infinitive, noun clauses, adjective clauses, adverb clauses, reduced clauses, conditional sentences & subjunctive begins with passive voice. In addition, it provides the students with practice in taking the Structure and Written Expression part of the TOEFL. 

Throughout the course, lecturers and students are encouraged to use technological tools to aid their learning process, such as e-learning Unsri (LMS), YouTube, interactive platforms (Quizzes, Kahoot, etc) and other necessary technological tools. 

Based on the program learning outcome, students are able to show religious, responsible, and academic attitudes and behaviours that can contribute to improving the quality of life in society, nation and state. Next, students are also able to master English according to the purpose and context of its use. Students can have the skills to make the right decisions, professionally and responsibly based on the results of the analysis of information and data to be able to choose various alternative solutions independently and in groups in solving the learning problems they face in accordance with the context to obtain the best learning outcomes and optimal student development. For specific skills, students are able to use English properly, correctly and fluently according to the context of its use.

At the end of this course, students will be able to: 

  1. master the pattern of structure and function of passive voice sentences. 
  2. use passive voice sentences in writing and speaking properly.
  3. master the definitions and uses of gerunds and infinitives in speaking and writing. 
  4. master the structure and function of subordinate clauses.
  5. apply subordinate clauses in complex sentences both in writing and speaking.
  6. master the structural pattern and use of reduced clauses both in writing and speaking.
  7. master conditional and subjunctive sentence structure.
