This course aims to improve students’ basic speaking skills in using vocabulary, expressions, and sentence structures of a specific context of a situation (introducing, asking questions, describing family, talking about past experience, etc) so that they can engage in everyday informal conversations with ease and confidence. In this course, students practice speaking and respond to certain conversational functions through various activities such as independent practice and role-playing.

This course starts with the topic of introducing oneself and others, activities using yes/no & alternative questions, speaking activities using variations or combinations of expressions of Introducing, yes/no and alternative questions, describing family, time expressions. expressions of invitation, asking for and telling directions, informal conversation contexts. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to use technological tools to aid their learning and speaking performances such as e-learning (LMS), Canva or any presentation maker software/apps, video editors, social media, and other necessary technological tools. By the end of the course, students can demonstrate excellent conversational English skills for everyday informal interactions

After carrying out all of the learning activities in this course, at the end, students are expected to be able to: 

  • identify and analyze vocabulary, expressions, and sentence structures for daily informal conversation
  • distinguish informal and formal conversations in certain situations and daily informal conversation contexts
  • practice and work together in role-play to use and respond to the expressions in certain situations and daily informal conversation contexts
  • integrate current computer technology and digital media in the learning process
