Mathematics Education Study Program held Mathematics Literacy Contest (KLM) and Workshop on PISA for The Ninth Time

On Monday, October 25, 2021, the Mathematics Education Study Program held Mathematics Literacy Contest (KLM) and Workshop on PISA. This is an annual agenda where this year is the 9th edition, and the first time it is carried out online due to the covid-19 pandemic. This activity was first initiated in 2010 by Prof. Zulkardi, M.I.Kom, M.Sc., which the name was Lomba Melek Matematika (LMM) and Semiloka PISA. This activity also marks the first day of the 2021 National Conference on Mathematics Education (NaCoME) series. The ceremony started at 08.30 WIB and was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Asc. Dr. Hartono, M.A. He advised the importance of learning in schools that meet the 6C criteria, namely Critical thinking, Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, Citizenship/culture, and Character education/connectivity. He also said that in the near future, a mathematics education study program will be inaugurated as a literacy study center.

Opening Remark from The Dean of FKIP Unsri

Based on the report of the committee chairman, Jeri Araiku, M.Pd., 121 participants from 12 provinces in Indonesia participated in KLM activities, namely Lampung, Bangka Belitung, Jambi, East Java, South Sumatera, North Sumatera, Central Sulawesi, East Kalimantan, West Jawa, Aceh, Riau, and DKI Jakarta.  Also, 446 participants have registered to attend Workshops on PISA. The workshop presented 3 keynote speakers, namely Prof. Zulkardi, M.I.KomM.Sc. , who brought the theme “Design your own PISA problem”, Prof. Dr. Ratu Ilma Indra Putri, M.Si who brought the material “Inspiration for the Development of PISA Questions”, and and Dr. Hartono who brought the theme “Literacy = Reasoning + Problem Solving”.

As for KLM, this agenda was divided into 3 rounds, namely preliminary, semifinal and final. Of the 121 participants, 15 people will advance to the semifinals based on the score and the fastest answer time. From the semifinal round, 3 people will be taken to enter the final round. In the final round, participants will work on 3 essay questions that must be completed within 9 minutes. Then, the jury will announce the winner of this KLM. The winners came from 3 different Provinces. The first winner is Demetrio Franklyn Edryan from SMA Kusuma Bangsa, South Sumatra. The second winner is Maulana Tegar Danurwenda Hartono from MTsN 2 Surabaya, East Java. The third winner is Ardan Hidayat from SMP Al Azhar mandiri Palu, Central Sulawesi.
