The 10th Mathematics Literacy Contest and Workshop on PISA has successfully held

On March 5th, 2022, Mathematics Education Study Programs held it’s 10th edition (only the second edition to be held online) of mathematics literacy contest and workshop on PISA. This year’s participant was the biggest yet, with 341 participants from 26 provinces joined the workshop (Aceh, North Sumatra, Riau, Kepulauan Riau, Jambi, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung, Lampung, DKI Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, NTB, NTT, North Maluku, Papua, and West Papua). As for the Mathematics Literacy contest, there were 329 participants from 18 provinces (Aceh, Riau, Kepulauan Riau, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung, Lampung, DKI Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, NTB, and Papua).

The event was officially opened by the Dean of Faculty of teacher training and Education, Asc. Prof. Dr. Hartono, M.A. He advised all participants to take part in the entire series of events properly and uphold sportsmanship. He wished that this annual agenda would be even bigger with broader participation from Southeast Asia’s countries. It’s going to be a challenge to make the PISA problems better.

The workshop presents three expert in formulating PISA problem, they are Prof. Dr. H. Zulkardi, MI Komp, M.Sc., Prof. Dr. Ratu Ilma Indra Putri, M.Si., and Asc. Prof. Dr. Yusuf Hartono.

The Mathematical Literacy Contest consisted of three rounds. All 329 participants competed in elimination round to get top 20 contestants based on the highest score and fastest time. This top 20 then competed in semifinal to get top 3 contestants. The finalists then must solve 3 PISA problems and each finalist must present the solution of those problems. This year’s winners are from 3 different provinces and different islands.

  1. Sherwyn Khasim from SMA Darma Yudha, Riau.
  2. Ardan Hidayat from SMP Al-Azhar Mandiri, Palu.
  3. Stephanie Jesslyn from SMA Katolik Santu Petrus, Pontianak.

All winners are entitled to coaching money and a champion certificate.
