With this approach, teachers are expected to create a more holistic learning environment that not only prepares students academically but also morally and ethically.

The chief executive of the activity, Mrs. Nyimas Aisyah, explained that this activity is part of an ongoing commitment to improving the quality of education in OKI District. “We believe that effective education not only teaches knowledge but also shapes students’ character. With this training, we hope that teachers can be more prepared and enthusiastic in supporting the strengthening of students’ character values through their teaching modules,” she said.

This training is part of the Community Service Team’s commitment to continue to support and improve the quality of education in OKI Regency. With this training, it is hoped that education in high schools in OKI Regency can achieve higher standards in the academic and character development of students.

The training began with the presentation of material on “Character Value-Based Learning” by Mrs. Dra. Umi Chotimah, M.Pd., Ph.D., who is a lecturer in the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program at FKIP Sriwijaya University. Followed by the presentation of material on “Value Integration in Mathematics Learning” by Mrs. Dra. Nyimas Aisyah, M.Pd., Ph.D., a lecturer in the Mathematics Education Study Program at FKIP Sriwijaya University and the head of the PkM team. The first session of the training ended with a question and answer discussion on value integration in mathematics learning, where participants actively discussed and shared experiences, strengthening the professional network among OKI high school mathematics teachers.

At the next meeting, the training began with an explanation of the basics of preparing teaching modules by Dr. Meryansumayeka, S.Pd., M.Sc. Furthermore, participants were trained to develop value-oriented mathematics teaching modules. This activity took the form of a workshop, where participants used laptops as the main tool for developing teaching modules. To facilitate this process, participants were also introduced to wizer.me and canva technology to make the teaching modules more attractive. During the training, teachers were facilitated in creating innovative and applicable teaching modules, which are expected to be an effective means of instilling positive values such as honesty, discipline, responsibility, and cooperation through mathematics learning.

OKI High School Mathematics then divided the teachers into several working groups. Each group discussed and collaborated to develop teaching modules with different topics. The PkM team provided assistance to all groups in developing teaching modules that focused on values. The results of this assistance are value-oriented mathematics teaching modules from various mathematics topics presented and discussed by the teachers.

After the mentoring activity, the teachers are expected to implement the teaching modules in learning. As a follow-up, students involved in the PkM conduct an internship at the location of the partner teacher, namely SMA Negeri 3 Kayuagung. Students will act as technical assistants within the framework of the MBKM program (field practice), support the development of modules for other mathematics materials, and assist in the implementation of value-oriented teaching modules in mathematics learning at the school.

The trainees welcomed this PkM activity and expressed their enthusiasm to apply the knowledge gained in the daily teaching and learning process. Through this program, it is expected to have a significant positive impact on the character development of students in OKI District.
