Palembang, November 27–28, 2019
The Mathematics Education Study Program at Universitas Sriwijaya marked a significant milestone by hosting the First National Conference on Mathematics Education (NaCoME) and a Workshop on Mathematical Modeling at Aula Pascasarjana Universitas Sriwijaya, Palembang.
Carrying the theme “Modeling in Mathematics Instruction: The First Step to Problem Solving,” the event gathered academics, lecturers, researchers, and students from universities across Indonesia and abroad, fostering collaboration and innovation in mathematics education.
The conference was officially opened by Dr. Hartono, M.A., Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Attendees benefited from keynote presentations by several leading experts, including Dr. Tan Liang Soon from the Academy of Singapore Teacher, Prof. Wono Setya Budhi, Ph.D. of Institut Teknologi Bandung, and Dr. Yusuf Hartono and Dr. Darmawijoyo, both from Universitas Sriwijaya.
A standout feature of the event was the hands-on Workshop on Mathematical Modeling, conducted directly by Dr. Tan Liang Soon. The workshop drew a large audience and received strong engagement, reflected in the high number of attendees and the volume of abstracts and academic papers submitted for inclusion in respected international proceedings.
The success of this first NaCoME affirms Universitas Sriwijaya’s dedication to fostering academic exchange and promoting advancements in mathematics education across national and international platforms.
