Lecturers of Mathematics Education Study Program Attend Summer School at Utrecht University

Several lecturers from the Mathematics Education Study Program attended the Summer School at Utrecht University, the Netherlands on August 19-23, 2024. The lecturers were Prof. Dr. Zulkardi, M.Sc., M.Ikomp., Prof. Dr. Ratu Ilma Indra Putri, M.Sc., Nyimas Aisyah, Ph.D., Dr. Hapizah, S.Pd., M.T., and Rahma Siska Utari, M.Pd. In addition to the Mathematics Education lecturers, this activity was also attended by lecturers from the Physics Education Study Program, namely Prof. Dr. Ida Sriyanti, M.Sc., from Biology Education, namely Dr. Meilinda, M.Pd., and from Sports Education, Dr. Wahyu Indra Bayu. This activity was themed STEM Education.

This activity provides an opportunity for lecturers to deepen their knowledge of STEM and also expand their network with several lecturers from other countries who are fellow summer school participants. Some of the materials obtained are as follows: STEM estimation activities; Whole body collaboration: large 3D model construction; Designing and learning educational activities: lesson study and design research; Inquiry-Based Learning; Self-assessment, concept cartoons and concept maps; Practicing Inquiry-based STEM education; Diversity in STEM education; Inclusive teaching and classroom climate; Technology tools in STEM education; Computational Thinking & AR in Mathematics Education; VR for Practical High School Ionizing Rays; Fostering learning about sustainability: plastic soup with escape box.

In addition to Universitas Sriwijaya, participants of the summer school were also attended by representatives from the University of Oregon, United States; International School of Turin, Italy; University of Michigan-Flint, United States; Marmara University, Turkey; Central University of South Bihar, India; Allameh Tabataba’i University, Iran; University of Vienna, Austria; King’s College London; Guangdong University of Education, China, and others.
