A MATHS LITERACY LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR TEACHERS, ONE OF INDONESIA’S PISA IMPROVEMENT EFFORTS

On 31 July 2023, the Mathematics Education Doctoral Program produced 1 new graduate, Dr. Tria Gustiningsi, M.Pd. Her dissertation entitled “Development of a Digital-Assisted Mathematics Literacy Learning Environment for Driver Teachers” under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Ratu Ilma Indra Putri, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Zulkardi, M.I.Komp., M.Sc., and Dr. Hapizah, M.T. was successfully defended in an open doctoral promotion session.             

The examiners were Prof. Dr. Zaleha Ismail (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia), Dr. Yusuf Hartono (Sriwijaya University), and Dr. Meryansumayeka, M.Sc. (Sriwijaya University). External examiners from University Teknologi Malaysia showed their interest in Tria’s research. In her research, Tria produced a mathematical literacy learning environment model for teachers as one of the efforts to improve PISA in Indonesia. Hopefully, the learning environment developed can continue and be adopted by educational institutions in developing teacher competence.

Tria completed her studies on time, namely within 3 years. The output of this research is in the form of articles in scopus indexed international journals, scopus indexed proceedings articles, articles in sinta 3 indexed national journals, books with ISBN, Appropriate Technology in the form of websites, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and videos, and producing a community, namely the Mathematics Literacy Community which has been registered on the Merdeka Teaching Platform (Platform Merdeka Belajar) which can be accessed by all teachers in all provinces in Indonesia.
